By Toh Yong Chuan From August next year, firms that want to hire foreign professionals must prove that they have tried to hire Singaporeans. These employers have to advertise for Singaporeans to fill the vacancies in a national jobs bank administered by the Singapore Workforce Development Agency, the Manpower Ministry said on Monday. Firms with 25 or fewer staff will be exempted from advertising rule, or those hiring for jobs paying ,000 and above a month. Those who do not advertise in the national job bank will have the foreigners' Employment Pass (EP) applications rejected. The move is part of a Fair Consideration Framework announced by the ministry that requires employers to consider Singaporeans fairly before hiring foreigners. Besides the advertising rule, firms that have Wilson was a member of the 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment. 2/6 Marines was part of the 2nd Marine Division, and Wilson was a veteran of 1943’s Battle of Tarawa.

Private First Class Frank P. Witek, USMCR (August 3, 1944)

Frank Peter Witek was born on December 10, 1921 in Derby, Connecticut. He moved as a child with his family to Chicago, Illinois, and it was from there that he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserve on January 20, 1942.

After training, Witek was assigned to the active Marine Corps as an automatic rifleman armed with an M1918 BAR with the 1st Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment as a component of the 3rd Marine Division. He fought with 1/9 on Bougainville, and then landed with them on Guam on July 21, 1944.

Private First Class Harold Glenn Epperson, USMCR (June 25, 1944)

Harold Glenn Epperson was born in Akron, Ohio on July 14, 1923. He was employed by Goodyear in Akron when he volunteered for the United States Marine Corps Reserve on December 12, 1942. After training, he was placed with the active United States Marine Corps in the 1st Battalion 6th Marine Regiment, part of the 2nd Marine Division.
